Cudi has also been building a wave of guest collaborations from Pharrell to Snoop Dogg.

It’s been humbling since Kanye reached out. People seek my creativity; that’s dope. I don’t do the normal sh–. I don’t make the normal songs. So when people reach out, that means they’re on the same frequency.”

Cudi is probably most excited about the remix of Consequence’s “Whatever You Want” with Kanye, Common, John Legend and Big Sean, and he wants to include the entire fam when they reunite. “We gotta do it again,” Cudi said. “We gotta get everybody. We gotta have the GLCs, Really Doe, the Bentleys — everyone ripping it and dropping gems.”

Witness Says He Saw Remy with Gun

A witness testified during Remy Ma’s assault trial yesterday (March 11) that he saw the rapper cock back a .45 caliber pistol and get into victim Makeda Barnes-Joseph’s car shortly before the woman was shot in the abdomen. According to the Associated Press, 21 year-old student Oluwole Ajudun went on to testify that that he heard the pop of a gun shot shortly thereafter and saw Remy exit the vehicle. But prior to Ajudun’s testimony, witness Crystal Ricks testified that although she also heard a pop and saw a flash while Remy was in Barnes-Joseph’s car, she never saw the rapper with a weapon. Remy’s lawyer has stated that the gun went off accidentally as the two women struggled for it. Although investigators have already concluded that the weapon did fire accidentally, prosecutors insist that Remy shot Barnes-Joseph because she believed the woman stole $2000 from her purse.

Juelz Santana Arrested for Possession of Marijuana & Bullets

Dipset MC Juelz Santana was arrested in New Jersey last week after police pulled him over for driving with a suspended license and found him to be in possession of marijuana and illegal hollow point bullets. According to the New York Daily News, the rapper’s Bentley was stopped by cops as he approached his home in Teaneck, NJ. After smelling marijuana and noticing several White Owl and Dutchmaster cigars in the vehicle, Officer John Abraham searched the car and found 29 hollow-point bullets and $19,500 in cash rolled up in bundles and hidden in a bag full of Jolly Rancher candies. The officer also discovered a rolled up blunt in the rapper’s shoe. Police later found a baggie full of weed in the back of the police car that they had placed Juelz in after arresting him. He is due in municipal court today (March 12) to answer to the charges.

Ice Cube’s March 15 performance at the South by Southwest (SxSW) music and film festival in Austin, TX will be streamed live on his real-time online television network, UVNTV. Remy Ma’s Assault Trial Kicks Off in New York

Remy Ma’s trial on charges of assault kicked off in a Manhattan courtroom on Monday (March 10) with the prosecution and defense painting vastly different pictures of what happened on the night of July 14, 2007. According to the Associated Press, prosecutor Jason Berland accused the Bronx MC of pumping two .45 caliber bullets into Makeda Barnes-Joseph and then fleeing in her Cadillac Escalade. When she crashed the vehicle into a parked car, Berland claims, she fled to a friend’s house in Harlem without bothering to notify the police. But defense attorney Ivan Fisher countered that Barnes-Joseph had changed her story since testifying before a grand jury. According to Fisher, the gun fired accidentally as the two women struggled for the weapon. The defense implied that Barnes-Joseph’s account of the event changed as her lawyer was preparing a $20 million lawsuit against Remy. That suit has reportedly been withdrawn. The former Terror Squad MC was originally charged with attempted murder, but the charge was later reduced to assault after investigators determined that the weapon did in fact fire accidentally. She was also later indicted on witness tampering charges after she allegedly ordered a group of men to assault the boyfriend of a potential witness. Remy could face up to 25 years in prison if convicted.

C-Murder Signs Akon To Book Deal; 'Thug Politics' On The Way

New Orleans rapper C-Murder continues to build on his successes in the literary world as the rapper announced today (March 11) that he has signed R&B superstar Akon to a book deal with TRU Publishing.

Akon’s new book will be titled Thug Politics and is the second release from C-Murder’s TRU Publishing company.

The first release from the new company was Jacki-O’s title Grown and Gangsta, which landed in book stores last month.

According to a representative for TRU Publishing, Akon’s book Thug Politics is due in stores in April or May.

C-Murder, Jacki-O and Akon will also join a literary campaign to promote their books, as well as literacy amongst children and teens.

C-Murder, born Corey Miller, is the younger brother of mogul Master P. and the uncle of teen rapper Lil’ Romeo.

In 2006, Miller released his critically acclaimed debut novel Death Around the Corner, which has sold an estimated 70,000 copies independently.

On June 9, the rapper’s retrial for allegedly shooting and killing a 16-year-old will begin.

Bohagon Leaves Lil Jon's BME Camp

Former Lil Jon protégé Bohagon has moved on from his situation with BME Recordings and Warner Brothers records, the rapper recently revealed to AllHipHop.com.

According to Bohagon, he is currently gearing up for the release of his long delayed debut, to be delivered via his own joint venture with Asylum Records.

First introduced to mainstream audiences via Lil Jon and the Eastside Boyz’ 2004 hit "Get Crunk," Bohagon said BME’s delay of his solo project was the primary reason for his renegotiation.

"The way it was situated, my album was gonna come out behind Scrappy’s album," Bohagon told AllHipHop.com. "BME put out Scrap’s album and they ain’t like how Warner Brothers was doing things. Somehow the deal got messed up and BME wanted to part ways with Warner Brothers. Warner Brothers kept me, Scrappy, and E-40. So we just worked out a situation where they offered me to Atlantic and Asylum. I felt I would have a better chance at Asylum."

The new partnership with Asylum establishes a home for Bohagon’s own imprint, Black Cartel, a label he established a little over a year ago with "Freaky Gurl" producer Cyber Sapp.

While Black Cartel prepares the release of Bohagon’s debut Who Am I, Bohagon said he intended to grow the label’s roster over time.

As for his relationship with Lil Jon, Bohagon says that while he has some regrets, he harbors no ill will towards the man who essentially gave him his first break.

"At the end of the day, Imma always be grateful ‘cause he took me out the hood as a little country ass ni**a from South Georgia, and took me around the world," the rapper continued. I wish he woulda been a lot more loyal; I wish he woulda kept it 100 with me. I can’t regret that time [with BME]. For the most part, it was a great learning experience."

Bohagon is currently in Germany, where he launched the promotional tour for Who Am I.

The album, which is due in stores this year, features appearances by Twista, Parlay of the Franchize Boyz and P$C’s Mac Bonney, as well as production by Nitti and Crime Mob producer Lil’ J.

The Game Still in Jail

Contrary to previous reports, rapper The Game is currently still behind bars. Although website TMZ.com previously reported that the MC had been released from the Twin Towers Correctional Facility in Los Angeles, his manager Jimmy Henchmen confirmed to XXLMag.com that he is still in custody. The confusion over the Black Wall Street head’s release apparently arose from jail records that listed him as having been released late Sunday evening (March 9). While he did in fact leave the Twin Towers facility, he was moved to another facility for safety reasons. According to Henchmen, Game’s camp is still anticipating his early release due to over crowding in Los Angeles jails.

Dr. Dre’s mother, Verna Griffin, is set to publish her memoirs in a new book titled Long Road Outta Compton: Dr. Dre’s Mom on Family, Fame and Terrible Tragedy. Scheduled for release this June, the book will offer readers insight into Griffin’s personal struggles as a single mother in South Central Los Angeles. Griffin, who lost two of her five children in their infancy, and another to gang violence, often worried that she would also lose Dre to the streets. When the young producer teamed up with fellow N.W.A founder Eazy-E, she was less than thrilled with the often violent and explicit lyrical content that the group came to be known for pioneering. But she eventually came to accept the raunchy music for what it was. “I could remember my boys standing outside having a friendly conversation when, all of a sudden, I’d…see the police with all of them spread-eagle up against the police car,” she writes in an excerpt provided to Rush & Molloy of the New York Daily News. “This harassment was for no obvious reason except they saw black boys grouped together, and presumed to be up to no good. It was then I realized that the lyrics were just stories about things that were actually happening.” Long Road Outta Compton will be Griffin’s second published work. In 2005 she released Privileged to Live: A Mother’s Story of Survival.

RUMOR: Barack Obama to Appear on New Q-Tip Album?

According to the New York Post’s Page Six, Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama will appear prominently on Q-Tip’s upcoming solo album, The Renaissance.

The rapper, formerly of the group “A Tribe Called Quest,” will debut a solo album this June that’s heavy on guest stars, including presidential hopeful Barack Obama, who speaks throughout one song. “I’ve got Norah Jones on there, but Barack is the big one. You’ll see what happens, I can’t reveal too much,” Q-Tip told Page Six Thursday at the Details magazine party at Le Royale for his album, “The Renaissance,” and a photo shoot he did for the March issue.

Filmmaker Spike Lee also reportedly makes an appearance.

Lil Wayne’s Attorney Wants Drug Charge Reduced

An attorney representing Lil Wayne in his Arizona drug case filed a motion in Yuma County Superior Court on Friday (March 7) to have a charge of drug possession reduced. According to the Associated Press, attorney James Tilson wants the charge downgraded from possession of drugs with intent to sell to simple possession. Tilson argues that, although an initial grand jury complaint states that his client was caught with 29 grams of cocaine, subsequent lab reports set the amount at less than eight grams. In Arizona, a defendant in possession of more than nine grams is typically presumed to be selling rather than using. This important detail could determine whether or not Weezy receives probation or jail time. A hearing on the motion has been scheduled for May 13. Wayne was arrested on January 22 after a search of his tour bus at a Border Patrol checkpoint turned up drugs and a .40 caliber pistol.

Brothers Who Discovered Eminem Sue Dr. Dre, Interscope For Millions

Mark and Jeff Bass, the Detroit brothers responsible for discovering Eminem, have filed a lawsuit against Aftermath, Interscope and Dr. Dre’s Ary Inc., claiming the companies have failed to pay millions of dollars in royalties.

The Bass brothers’ Michigan-based F.B.T. Productions, along with Em2M LLC, claim that the labels have failed to pay at least $1 million dollars in back royalties, from master recordings of the musical performances by Eminem.

Em2M is owned by Joel Martin, who also operates Eminem’s publishing company, 8 Mile Style.

F.B.T. signed Eminem to an exclusive artist’s recording agreement in 1995.

Three years later, F.B.T. signed an agreement with Aftermath Entertainment, agreeing to furnish Aftermath the exclusive services of Eminem.

Eminem also signed an agreement acknowledging and approving the deal between F.B.T. and Aftermath, in order for Dr. Dre to obtain Eminem’s exclusive services.

The rapper then assumed all of F.B.T.’s obligations to Aftermath and Aftermath then assumed all of F.B.T.’s obligations to Eminem.

The lawsuit claims that all parties agreed that F.B.T. would remain an income participant in all future releases by Eminem and that royalties earned from Eminem’s releases would be paid to F.B.T., Martin’s Em2M and Eminem.

The Michigan-based companies claim that the labels erroneously charged certain productions costs and other expenses to them, when they should have been billed directly to Eminem.

The errors, which the lawsuit states have been acknowledging by the labels, resulted in an underpayment in millions of dollars in royalties to their companies.

The Bass Brothers, who are being represented by Los Angeles based attorneys Paul H. Duvall and Mark Block, seek an undisclosed amount in damages that could be determined by a jury, if the case goes to trial.

The pair is now formally engaged to be married, according to recent reports. Egypt of BET’s The Black Carpet confirmed the news with AllHipHop.com, saying that Remy Ma shared the exclusive with her.

Egypt made the announcement on her highly rated television show last night (March 6).

The strength of their relationship will certainly be tested, as jury selection has begun for Remy Ma’s trial for the alleged shooting of an acquaintance over money.

The Grammy nominated rapper is accused of shooting a woman twice in the abdomen after leaving a party in Greenwich Village.

Remy, 26, who allegedly accused Makeda Barnes-Joseph of stealing $2,000 from her purse, has pleaded not guilty to assault and related charges.

The pair will probably be using their superior lyrical abilities soon after another alleged assault occurred between Papoose and Fat Joe.

According to Reuters, through the venture all Dipdive multimedia content will be available wirelessly on millions of RIM’s popular devices. The partnership underscores RIM’s increased push to broaden their reach beyond their primary base of business users and into the consumer market. “Probably the two hottest trends in wireless are social networking…and the other one is the multimedia, which is principally portable music,” RIM CEO Jim Balsillie said of the new offering. Dipdive.com is a politically focused social networking site created by will in support of presidential candidate Barack Obama. The Black Eyed Peas front man used the community to release his wildly popular Obama inspired song “Yes We Can.” The track and video feature a number of celebrities—including Common, John Legend and Fonzworth Bentley—reciting quotations from a speech given by Obama following his loss in the New Hampshire primary. Bun B Speaks on Lil Wayne’s Syrup Addiction

With the recent death of his partner Pimp C, Bun B has had to field a slew of questions about the predominantly Southern trend of sipping “syrup” or “lean”—prescription-strength cough syrup laced with codeine and promethazine. While a number of factors—including an existing sleep disorder—contributed to Pimp’s sudden passing, he was also found to have lean in his system at the time of his death. Lil Wayne has also been the subject of much speculation of late as a result of the white Styrofoam cup of the stuff that he seemingly never leaves home without. In a recent interview with MTV News, Wayne admitted that he is addicted to the concoction, but expressed disdain with the criticism he has endured because of his problem. According to Wayne, fighting an addition is one of the hardest battles someone can fight and he’s appreciate if people would consider that before judging him. In a recent interview with Rhapsody.com, Bun B expressed similar sentiments.

Rhapsody: Lil Wayne recently made a lot of headlines by admitting to being addicted to syrup [prescription-strength cough syrup]. What were your thoughts?

Rick Ross, Plies Launch Tour To Support New Albums

Florida rappers Plies and Rick Ross have embarked on a new tour, as both artists’ prepare for their sophomore releases.

The Hypnotized Tour debuted in Columbia, South Carolina on Saturday (Mar 1), and will run through 18 more dates across the country before coming to a close in Los Angeles.

"I look forward to seeing all my fans on the road on the Hypnotized Tour," said Plies in a statement. "They can expect to see me in raw form. I will be on fire going into summer 2008. The Hypnotized Tour [is] an advance taste of what is to come!"

Part of Plies’ schedule for this summer includes the release of his sophomore album, Definition of Real, due out on Atlantic Records on June 24, the label announced today (March 6).

Fans have a much shorter wait for Rick Ross’s sophomore release, Trilla, which hits stores March 11.

Trilla is the follow up to Ross’ RIAA-certified gold debut Port of Miami and features appearances by Jay-Z, Lil’ Wayne, T-Pain, Trick Daddy and Flo-Rida, as well as production from The Runners, Cool and Dre, and 2008 Grammy Award winner DJ Toomp.

"This is a tour put together to celebrate the best and brightest Southern Hip-Hop has to offer and what is to come" explained Terrence Huggins of T.H.E. Booking Agency, the company behind the Hypnotized Tour. "These artists created something huge out of nothing and it is time to celebrate that fact. This is a way for people across the country to witness history in the making."

Joining Plies and Rick Ross on the tour are Lil’ Boosie, The Dream and Pleasure P, formerly of the group Pretty Ricky.

Appearances are also expected by Yo Gotti, Trina, and possibly Juvenile, all scheduled to join the tour on special dates.

In addition to completing his current tour and recording Definition, Plies is in the final planning stages of a new partnership with Don Diva Magazine to produce the Plies/Don Diva Prison Tour.

Details of the tour have yet to be released.

Brooklyn Rapper "Gravy" Selected To Play B.I.G.

Brooklyn rapper Jamal “Gravy” Woolard has been chosen to play slain Hip-Hop superstar The Notorious B.I.G. in the upcoming movie, titled Notorious.

Representatives for the rapper confirmed with AllHipHop.com that Gravy landed the role over hundreds of hopefuls tried out for the part.

Notorious is set to start filming on March 24 in New York, just two weeks after the anniversary of B.I.G., who was gunned down on March 9, 1997 in Los Angeles.

According to Variety, Notorious will also star Angela Bassett as Voletta Wallace, Derek Luke as Sean “Diddy” Combs and Anthony Mackie, who will play Tupac Shakur.

Notorious, which is being executive produced by Combs, will chronicle B.I.G’s career, his rise to the top of the charts and ultimately his death.

The Notorious B.I.G., born Christopher Wallace, was shot to death on March 9, 1997, after he, Sean “Diddy “ Combs and an entourage attended a party at the Petersen Automotive Museum.

The murders of B.I.G. or his “rival” Tupac Shakur, who was gunned down six months earlier in Las Vegas on September 7, 1996, have never been solved.

Some believe that the rappers were shot as part of a feud between East and West Coast rappers, while others, including B.I.G.’s mother, claim B.I.G. was gunned down with the help of off-duty police officers, on the orders of Death Row Records’ CEO, Marion “Suge” Knight.

Notorious is based on a screenplay by Hip-Hop scribes Cheo Hodari Coker and Reggie Rock Bythewood.

In April of 2006, Gravy caused a minor controversy when he was shot outside of New York's Hot 97, just moments before conducting a radio interview.

Hot 97 responded by banning the rapper’s records from being played the following month, due to several other unrelated violent alteractions between rappers at the station.

Notorious is being directed by George Tillman Jr and is due in theaters on January 16.

Russell Simmons Explains Obama Endorsement

Hip-Hop mogul Russell Simmons has officially come out to endorse Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama.

Despite a longstanding relationship with Obama's rival, Sen. Hillary Clinton, Simmons cited public reaction and support for Obama's message of change as one of the reasons behind being "compelled by my own personal conscience" to support the Chicago senator.

"During the last nine months, I have closely observed the presidential campaigns, analyzed the issues and platforms of the major candidates, and have had substantive discussions with Senator Clinton and Senator Obama," he said. "From the sidelines of the primaries and debates, I have been particularly inspired by the fact that Senator Obama has built an unprecedented, national movement comprised of people from all ethnic, racial, political, social and economic backgrounds."

Simmons' endorsement is the latest achievement for Obama, who is in a dead heat with Clinton leading into to today’s (March 4) primaries and caucuses in Texas and Ohio.

The race for the Democratic nomination has drawn interest across the country from young voters, who have turned out in force to vote.

Obama's upward swing was briefly overshadowed last week after the senator condemned Nation of Islam leader Min. Louis Farrakhan during a presidential debate in Ohio.

When asked about the Farrakhan's support for his campaign, Obama stated that while he and Farrakhan live in Chicago, he denounced the minister's past anti-Semitic remarks and rejects his support.

Despite Obama's stance, Farrakhan, who is a close associate of Simmons’, urged his followers to continue to support Obama.

"Those who have been supporting Sen. Barack Obama should not allow what was said during the Feb. 26 presidential debate to lessen their support for his campaign," the minister said in a statement. "This is simply mischief making intended to hurt Mr. Obama politically."

In other Simmons news, the rap mogul will be on hand for his Rush Philanthropic Arts Foundation's Art for Life Miami Beach gala.

The event, which will take place April 5 at JR and Loren Ridinger's waterfront estate, Casa de Suenos, will be hosted by actress Nia Long and honor Grammy Award-winning singer John Legend, real estate developer, R. Donahue Peebles and others for their outstanding contribution to their community.

Rappers Support Juvenile; Funeral For Daughter Set

Members of the Southern Hip-Hop community are showing their support for Juvenile this week, as news of the rapper’s tragic personal loss continues to spread.

As investigators continue to search for a motive in the murders of Juvenile’s four-year-old daughter Jelani, her 11-year-old sister Micaiah and their mother Joy Deleston, many have come forward with prayers and words of support.

"I love Juve like a brother," long-time friend and collaborator B.G. told AllHipHop.com. "We came up together as Hot Boys. Now we are men, fathers with families. I send out my prayers to Juve and his family as well as my sympathy to him. In our lives, Juve and I have seen a lot of death and lost a lot of friends too soon. But nothing can compare to what Juve has lost - his baby girl. The funeral for Deleston and her two daughters is slated to take place this week in South Carolina, where Deleston was born and raised.

Gwinnett County Deputy Joy Deleston, 39 and her daughters where found dead on Thursday (Feb 28) in their Lawrenceville, GA home, about 30 miles north of Atlanta.

Deleston’s 17-year-old son Anthony Terrell, Jr. was arrested the following day and charged with the murders, to which authorities say he has confessed.

"I would seriously be considering the death penalty in this case if he was eligible," Gwinnett County District Attorney Danny Porter told WSB-TV Channel 2.

Because of a US Supreme Court hearing, Terrell faces a maximum of life in prison for each of the three charges instead.

If ran consecutively, the sentences would make Terrell eligible for parole in forty years, Porter added.

Investigators have yet to determine an explanation for the shocking crime, having executed three search warrants, in part looking for illegal or prescription drugs that might have played a part in the boy’s behavior.

None were found at the home.

According to Porter, interviews with some of Deleston’s co-workers did indicate "a history of disputes" between the woman and her son.

This most recent tragedy is reflective of a rise in violent crimes involving teens and guns, not only in Atlanta – where another 16-year-old was arrested just two weeks ago following two bus stop shootings in neighboring Dekalb County; but across the country as well.

"It’s crazy what’s going on with these kids and guns, man," Memphis pioneer Eightball told AllHipHop.com after learning of Juvenile’s tragedy. "We had three school shootings here in Memphis in the last few weeks. We gotta figure out what’s going on!"

The New York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development on Monday (March 3) rejected the sale of 1520 Sedgwick Avenue in the Bronx, a building long considered to be the “birthplace of Hip-Hop.” Tenants of the building, where DJ Kool Herc held a party in 1973 that helped spawn the genre, have been fighting to maintain the keep the property in the city’s Mitchell-Lama affordable housing program. After a real-estate developer made an inflated offer, residents began to worry that the building could be removed from the program, which would have likely caused rents to skyrocket. According to amNewYork, the HPD rejected the sale after reviewing the prospective buyer’s proposal and finances. “We couldn’t see a way the rents allowed under Mitchell-Lama could cover the purchase price,” said Neill Coleman, a HPD spokesman. Although the building was deemed eligible for designation as a historic landmark last July, the HPD could not legally consider its status when assessing the sale. In January, with support from Herc and U.S. Senator Chuck Schumer, the tenants announced that they had formed an ownership group and were in the process of raising money to purchase the building themselves. Should they succeed, they intend to turn the property into an affordable co-op. While the HPD decision brings them closer to that goal, the fate of the building is still up in the air. The current owner could still pull the building from the Mitchell-Lama program and sell the property without public review.

Representatives for The Game, born Jayceon Taylor, said the rapper surrendered to authorities last night without incident.

A judge sentenced The Game to 60 days in the Los Angeles County Jail on February 11, after he pleaded no contest to a felony charge of gun possession in a school zone.

Two other criminal counts were dropped as a result of the plea agreement The Game struck with prosecutors, who accused the rapper of pointing a gun at another man during a pickup game of basketball at the Rita Walters Educational Learning Complex.

In addition to serving the 60 days, The Game was sentenced to 150 hours of community service and three years probation.

You may recall last April, Hip Hop mogul Russel Simmons told ABC News that he didn't much care for how Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., compared Don Imus's "nappy ho's" comments with the crude lyrics of rappers.

Obama had told the South Carolina Legislative Black Caucus that "we've got to admit to ourselves, that it was not the first time that we heard the word 'ho.' Turn on the radio station. There are a whole lot of songs that use the same language ... We've been permitting it in our homes, and in our schools and on iPods ... If it's not good for Don Imus, I don't know why it's good for us. If we don't like other people to degrade us, why are we degrading ourselves?"

Mr. Simmons did not agree that the two were comparable.

"People who are angry, uneducated and come from tremendous struggle, they have poetic license and they say things that offend you," Simmons said. "You have to talk about the conditions that create those kinds of lyrics. Boosie cancels show in Omaha, Fans erupt

Dozens of police officers were called to a club in Omaha, Nebraska, when hundreds of irate fans crowded an intersection after rapper Lil' Boosie allegedly canceled a scheduled performance.

According to the Omaha World-Herald, the rapper canceled a performance on Friday (February 29) at Sokol Underground, where almost 900 people had paid up to $30 dollars to see the rapper.

Patrons were told to leave the venue around 11:00 PM, resulting in a melee. The venue sustained damages when angry fans ripped a ticket booth out of wall.

Dozens of police officers were called to backup a number of off-duty police officers and a private security firm securing the venue.

Officers cleared the intersection promptly and two people were ticketed for disorderly contact.

Representatives for Lil' Boosie were not available to comment as of press time.

The rapper, born Torrance Hatch, is also named in a $1 million dollar lawsuit filed by a Baltimore woman in 2007.

Former Cash Money Records artist Juvenile is "shocked and devastated" over the death of his four-year-old daughter, Jelani, her mother and Jelani's sister, according to the rapper’s manager.

The Associated Press reports that Juvenile (born Terius Gray) is still trying to cope with the fatal shooting of Jelani, her 39-year-old mother, Joy Deleston, Deleston’s 11-year-old daughter Micaiah and his own daughter.

The bodies of the victims were found Thursday (Feb. 28) night in their home, Juvenile’s manager Aubrey Francis said yesterday (March 1).

"It really shocked him and devastated him to the point where I've never seen him before," Francis said. "Right now he is relaxing and trying to grasp everything of what has happened."

Anthony Tyrone Terrell Jr., Deleston’s 17-year-old son, was arrested Friday (Feb. 29) and charged in the deaths, which occurred at the home near Lawrenceville, outside Atlanta.

He is currently being held in the DeKalb County jail to avoid potential conflicts because Deleston worked for Gwinnett County as a sheriff’s deputy.

A preliminary hearing for Terrell is set for next week in Gwinnett County Superior Court, prosecutor Danny Porter said. Because of Terrell's age, prosecutors cannot seek the death penalty.

Juvenile's 4-Year-Old Daughter Killed

The daughter of rapper Juvenile, along with her mother and sister, were murdered Thursday in Georgia, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

The mother, Joy Deleston, a sheriff's deputy in Gwinnett County, was fatally shot, as were her two daughters, Micaiah, 11, and Jelani, 4. Jelani was the daughter of Juvenile, the paper reported.

Police in DeKalb County confirmed to MTV News that the alleged shooter was Anthony Tyrone Terrell Jr., who is Deleston's son. Terrell, 17, is currently being held and is being charged with three counts of murder and three counts of aggravated assault, the AJC reported.

A representative with the rapper's label, Atlantic Records, had no comment.

Deleston, 39, was an actress who appeared in locally produced films, as well as a seven-and-a-half-year veteran of the Gwinnett County Sheriff's Office, according to the paper.

Terrell waived his first court hearing, where he would have been formally notified of the charges against him, on Friday (February 29), a Gwinnett County Magistrate Court clerk told the AJC. Defense attorney Lyle Porter, who could not be reached Friday, has been assigned to represent him.

"Investigators interviewed Mr. Terrell, and as a result of the interview, there was enough probable cause to charge him with the murder of his mother and two sisters," a police spokesperson, who said the motive for the shootings was still under investigation, told the paper.

In 2003, Gwinnett County police issued an arrest warrant for Juvenile because they said he hadn't been paying for his daughter's child support.

A Los Angeles judge on Thursday (February 28) issued a default judgment against Bone Thugs-N-Harmony after they failed to contest a lawsuit brought against them by a Japanese concert promoter. According to KNBC 4 in L.A., World Mix Entertainment filed suit against the group after they missed two December 2006 concert dates in Nagoya and Okinawa. A contract submitted with the suit confirmed that the promoter had agreed to pay the group $25,000 per show, $10,000 for a photo shoot and cover expenses for travel and promotions. The company also agreed to meet special requests made by the group, such as providing a “big sack of marijuana” and bottles of Hennessey and Miller Genuine Draft beer. When the group failed to board their flight from Los Angeles International Airport, the shows had to be canceled. Since the Ohio based group failed to respond to the suit, U.S. District Judge Dean Pregerson awarded World Mix a total of $205,510.40.

Ali's Influence On Hip-Hop Chronicled

"Float like a butterfly/ Sting like a bee/ Your hands can't hit/ What your eyes can't see."

Muhammad Ali's rhymes, taunts, provocations and exclamations were an endlessly entertaining and insightful facet of his larger-than-life persona. As he once said, "I outwit them and then I outhit them."

A new book, "Ali Rap: Muhammad Ali the First Heavyweight Champion of Rap," proclaims Ali's verbal barrage was more than self-promotion, but that it sowed the seeds of hip-hop, which was born in the early '70s.

"Before there was rap ... there was Ali Rap ... a topsy-turvy, jivey jargon that only Ali could create, but a language we could all understand," writes the book's editor and designer, George Lois.

The book is not a continued analysis of this claim, but nearly 300 pages of examples, illustrated by a quote roughly every page that issued from Ali's world-class mouth. Lois, a renowned ad man and graphic designer, recently told The Associated Press he wanted to condense Ali's many sayings and memorable utterances into a "small, fat book -- like a Bible or a Quran."

Lois remembers riding in a car with Ali years ago when a rap song came on the radio. Lois suggested Ali was a rapper himself, to which the boxer responded: "I'm a double rapper. First I rap them with my mouth, then I rap them in the mouth."

Presented chronologically, "Ali Rap" takes the reader from Ali's Kentucky childhood, through his historic fights against Sonny Liston, Joe Lewis and George Foreman -- and finally to his current struggles with Parkinson's disease.

Even as an 89-pound 12-year-old, Ali -- who as a teenager was known by some as "The Louisville Lip" or "Mighty Mouth" -- had found his flow: "This guy is done. I'll stop him in one."

Ali's life story is all told through Ali's own words, in hysterical soundbites and intimate reflections. Lois, who counts himself a friend of Ali's, famously designed a 1964 Esquire magazine cover showing Ali punctured with arrows -- an allusion to the criticism he received for refusing to fight in the Vietnam War, and modeled after the San Sebastian painting by Francesco Botticini.

The book's bold, catchy boast that Ali invented rap is certainly debatable. Surely, hip-hop has more to gain by the association than Ali, who has always transcended all categorization.

Writing for ESPN -- which published the book with Taschen -- pop culture critic Chuck Klosterman pondered, "If true, this would mean that rap did not originate (as commonly believed) in the South Bronx during the '70s; it would mean that rap was invented in Kentucky during the '60s.

"This is hard to accept because there are very few memorable rap songs about competitive horse racing and/or Rex Chapman."

But there are more than a few rappers in Ali's corner, including Public Enemy's Chuck D, a well-respected elder statesman of hip-hop. Chuck D (born Carlton Douglas Ridenhour) recently hosted an ESPN special on Ali's love of language, which also included Rakim, Ludacris, Doug E. Fresh, Fab 5 Freddy, Jermaine Dupri and MC Lyte.

"He was able to engage his social surroundings into his whole persona. That's what hip-hop was able to do -- to be an antenna for social reflection," Chuck D told The AP. "He's one of the few black people to get on TV in the '60s and speak their minds -- thank God -- and also back up what he talked about."

Ali often spoke out about racism, Vietnam and his religion of Islam -- but it was usually in a purely self-expressionist, non-confrontational way. He once said of race relations in America -- speaking in almost Yogi Berra-style contradiction -- "Nothing is wrong, but something ain't right."

Ali's outspokenness was unusual in the Jim Crow-era South. Oddly enough, Ali infrequently seemed to use the boxing ring to let out his frustration -- instead, his outlet was a steady stream of unabashed confidence.

"Where do you think I would be if I didn't shout and holler?" he once said. "I would be poor and down in Louisville washing windows, shining shoes or running an elevator and saying 'Yes suh' and 'No suh,' and knowing my place."

Rap's connection to social injustice is more tenuous today, though. The well-regarded lyricist Nas is releasing an album titled "Hip Hop is Dead," suggesting the music has lost its way. So even if Ali fathered hip-hop, he might not recognize his grandkids.

Pastor Troy Arrested In Georgia

Rapper Pastor Troy was arrested early this morning (Dec. 15) for an alleged probation violation.

According to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Pastor Troy, born Micah Levar Troy, was conducting an interview with on Hot 107.9 when someone called the police and alerted officials that he was wanted in Fayette County.

Police confirmed the warrant and went to the Hot 107.9 studios around 9:00 am, where Troy, 29, was detained and arrested.

A spokeswoman for the Fayette Sheriff's office said that the Atlanta bred rapper is currently on probation for having no insurance and driving with a suspended license, but could not offer details about the reason behind today's arrest.

Notorious B.I.G. Investigation Linked to LAPD Sexual Harassment Lawsuit

A new sexual harassment lawsuit filed by a Los Angeles Police Department officer has connections with the alleged cover-up in the murder investigation of the late Notorious B.I.G.

According to reports, the suit was filed by LAPD Sgt. Ya-May Christle. Christle claimed some department promotions and choice assignments are being handed out in exchange for sexual favors.

Christle, who was part of the LAPD team that reviewed the B.I.G. investigative files and her lawyer said that some of the information she prepared has disappeared and was never forwarded to the rapper's family as ordered by the courts.

Former LAPD deputy chief Michael Berkow is named as a defendant in the suit, which accuses the officer of offering advancement in return for sex as well as maintaining a sleep-in room at the Bradbury Building in downtown Los Angeles.

The building is the same place where police Board of Rights hearings are held and the headquarters for the LAPD's Internal Affairs Division. Berkow recently left the LAPD, after the lawsuit was filed, to become chief of police in Savannah, GA.

Christle also claimed she was transferred and demoted after filing complaints about Berkow's alleged activities. In addition to the LAPD, Christle is suing city of Los Angeles.

Neither Berkow or the LAPD have commented on the suit. An LAPD spokesman said the department never comments on any pending litigation.

Legendary daredevil motorcycle stuntman Robert Craig "Evel" Knievel has filed a multi-million dollar lawsuit against Kanye West, claiming the Chicago rapper tarnished his image in the video for the hit single "Touch The Sky."

The lawsuit, which was filed in U.S. District Court, accuses Kanye West of trademark infringement and unauthorized use of the Evel Knievel image by using vulgar, sexual and racially questionable content.

Roc-A-Fella Records and "Touch the Sky" video director Chris Milk are also named as defendants in the lawsuit.

Knievel, 68, claims the video disgraced him and accuses Kanye West of ripping his image apart.

The video, which stars actress Pamela Anderson Lee, features Kanye West as a fictional stuntman named "Evel Kanyevel" attempting to jump a canyon. Evel Knievel's lawyer Richard Fee claims the video is a recreation of Knievel's failed attempt to jump the Snake River Canyon in Western Wyoming in 1974.

"In my opinion, this video maybe reflects West and his way of life, but it's sure not mine," Knievel told the St. Petersburg Times. "I don't want my children or my grandchildren associated with this kind of thing...I want it stopped."

Knievel is also seeking royalties and an injunction to prevent Kanye West from using Evil Knievel's image in the future. The single and video for "Touch the Sky" are taken from West's triple platinum album, Late Registration.

West and the "Touch the Sky" video were subject of controversy last month at the MTV Europe Music Awards.

The rapper burst onto the stage as Justice and Simian were being awarded Best Video and went into a tirade over losing in the category.

West later apologized to Justice and Simian for his antics.

Tragedy has struck the family of Ronald "Slim" Williams and Bryan "Baby" Williams yesterday (Dec. 11) when their sister Tamara Williams, 26, was killed in a head-on collision in New Orleans.

Williams, who majored in psychology and was studying for a nursing degree, died when her 2006 Toyota Camry was struck by a motorist who was driving the wrong direction on a downtown boulevard.

She leaves behind a husband and three children. The other driver, Jason Williams, 30, is in a local hospital where he is in serious condition.

Tamara Williams was the youngest of six siblings.

Foxy's In More Trouble

The AP reports that Foxy Brown, whose real name is Inga Marchand, was ordered to appear in Manhattan Criminal Court today (December 11) to answer to allegations that she has violated the terms of her three year probation. According to Shwanda Weinberg, an attorney for the New York Department of Probation, Brown has failed to keep appointments with her probation officers, attend anger management classes or submit to drug screening tests. Foxy has been on probation since August when she plead guilty to a misdemeanor assault charge stemming from a fight in a Manhattan nail salon. Today Weinberg told Judge Melissa C. Jackson that the rapper has sought special treatment because of her celebrity and suggested that she be given some jail time.

Judge Jackson did not allow Brown to respond to the charge and informed her that she should comply with the terms of her sentence or face jail time. After the hearing, Foxy explained to reporters that she has passed all her drug tests and has never violated her probation. She asserted that Weinberg’s allegations of a request for special treatment were a result of her unwillingness to wait in a downtown Brooklyn probation office for three hours with what she referred to as “all kind of criminals.” “My safety was in jeopardy, she commented. “I asked can we make another plan, and he said I had to sit there like every other probationer. I didn’t think they were going to throw me in with the wolves.”

Detox Coming Out in September

Apparently, Dr. Dre has settled on a time frame to release his highly anticipated album, Detox.

In a video clip in circulation on the Internet [See Bottom of Article] that features Dre, the producer and his protégé Bishop Lamont reveal that the album will be released in September of 2007.

The clip is a mere 31 seconds long, but Bishop Lamont states, "You see this man right here, we gonna do shameless promotion - Detox [in] September. This is not make believe."

The pair are in a recording studio and the camera pans to show some of the sophisticated equipment. Dre and Lamont share a couple crass jokes before the clip finishes.

Fans have waited several years for an announcement such as this.

While there are no confirmations why the album has taken so long, many speculate that Detox's tracks have gone to the likes of Jay-Z, Busta Rhymes and The Game, who have all benefited from the productions of the incomparable beat maestro.

The album was initially announced around 2002, planned for 2004 and people have been waiting since.

Even The Game, one of Dre's affiliates quipped, "I might just put out Detox myself" on "Compton" from Doctor's Advocate.

The album boast appearances, production and assistance from several top artists like Eminem and producers like Kon Artis, Nottz, Mahogany, and Hi-Tek.

Dr. Dre's last album 2001, came in 1999 and was a phenomenon on a pop level as well as amidst the Hip-Hop community.

Andre 3000 Shoots Hoops With Will Ferrell In New Flick

Lil' Wayne Explains Jay-Z Comments, Clipse Fire Back At Lil' Wayne

After setting the streets ablaze with controversial comments about Jay-Z, The Clipse, Young Buck and Pharrell in the December/January issue of Complex magazine, Lil' Wayne recently called in to DJ Absolut's Hot 97 show in an attempt to temper his words.

During the 7-minute interview, Weezy addresses comments he made to Complex about Jay-Z.

“I don’t like what he’s saying about how he had to come back because Hip-Hop’s dead and we need him. It’s not your house anymore, and I’m better than you," Lil' Wayne told the magazine.

When asked to explain, Lil Wayne explained that he didn't like the concept that Jay-Z's comeback album was built upon the notion that Hip-Hop is dead.

“I think I speak for everybody when I say it’s not dead as long as I’m still dropping albums,” Lil' Wayne told DJ Absolut.

Wayne also disclosed that some of the comments stem from the brief courtship between him and Roc-A-Fella last year when he his weighing his label re-signing options.

“I want people to just look at it like that dude who came out of college that was supposed to get drafted by the #1 team, which was Roc-A-Fella/Def Jam,” stated Wayne. “They passed on me and now I with a good team and a good coach and of course on every interview I’m gonna cut down the team that didn’t pick me.

Lil' Wayne also stuck to his position that he is a better rapper than Jay-Z.

"I'm better than this game," Lil' Wayne declared. "We could be having this conversation about any other person in this game. It was who I was asked about at this time. Yall trying to build a case on me. But I tell you what. If you build a case against me and take me to trial, I will beat it."

In addition to Jay Z, Wayne also had choice words for The Clipse and Pharrell saying, “"I don’t see no f—ing Clipse. How many years them n— been around? Who the f— is Pharrell? Do you really respect him?”

Upon hearing his comments, The Clipse took to the airwaves in WWHV Hot 102.1 FM in Virginia to respond to an already tense situation.

In this week's Hip-Hop Charts, Jay-Z holds the crown, Snoop Dogg is still in second, and The Clipse are on the come up.

Holding it down at the top of rap competition is Jay-Z, coming in at No. 6. Hova drops hard body since last week's 680K charts debut, but has still put it down with 139,900 copies sold this week. With the single, "Kingdom Come," still spinning the airwaves in New York City and "Lost Ones" warming up nationwide, Hov's comeback CD has pushed 821,700 units in total.

Slipping seven seats to No. 12 this week is Snoop Dogg. Despite the slight drop on the charts, Blue Carpet Treatment is still putting in work, as the total numbers read off at 355,100 after only 2 weeks on the charts. Fourth quarter appears to have gone off with a bang, as "That's That Shit" continues to plague the airwaves, contributing to the 90,300 discs pushed this week.

Debuting on the charts at No. 14 is Clipse. After numerous push-backs and other label conflicts, it seems as if quite a bit of hype for Hell Hath No Fury has gone down substantially, as the numbers for this week only read off at 79,600. Pusha T and Malice, however, scored a hit with last summer's "Mr. Me Too."

Tumbling ten positions is The Game, landing hard at No. 23. It seems as if the clout for Doctor's Advocate is diminishing, as his week-end numbers have rounded off at 61,800, compared to 134,100 last week. After 3 weeks going, Game has hit official gold status with 554,800 copies, still a far cry from the "five million" he has estimated for his second LP.

Taking a nosedive to No. 30 is Tupac. After last week's impressive debut at 159,000, Pac has slipped twenty-one seats on the charts. Pac's Life has finished off at 211,900 in total, with this week's numbers topping off at 52,300.

Debuting on the Hip-Hop Charts this week is the Ying Yang Twins, catching a brick at No. 40. Their new album, Chemically Imbalanced, has whispered its way onto the charts, as the numbers read off at 36,200.

Losing the rap race this week is Ludacris, falling fifteen seats to No. 50. The latest single from Luda, entitled "Runaway Love," features Mary J. Blige and is the third song off of Release Therapy. Unfortunately, the weekly numbers are still slowing down, with 27,600 sold this week, compared to 49,600 last week. After 11 weeks, the ATL rapper has scored at 793,100.

Up next is Baby and Lil' Wayne, falling ten seats to land at No. 54 this week. It's been 5 weeks for the duo, and the total numbers read off at 364,100, with the 7-day cycle ending at 25,500.

Still holding it down is Jim Jones, clinging hard to No. 70. Jim Jones is still pushing units for Hustler's P.O.M.E, getting that independent guap with 202,800 CDs sold thus far. This week, the Harlem rapper has pushed 19,900 copies.

Slowing the tempo, Akon is still riding high, Beyonce is still a big hit, Justin Timberlake is slowing down, Fergie steps down, and John Legend slips once again. Coming in at No. 8 this week is Akon. His disc appears to be a big hit, as 110,300 copies have been sold in this week alone. After 2 weeks, Konvicted has surpassed gold status at 558,500. Stepping only one slot out of the top ten this week is Beyonce, making the grade at No. 11. The star of "Dreamgirls," which is slated for release this month, is still riding off her hit single "Irreplaceable." This week, "B" has finished 94,700 copies, bringing B'Day to 1,492,200 after 13 weeks on the move. Taking No. 26 this week is Timberlake. The total for Futuresex/Lovesounds read off at 1,866,000, with the 7-day cycle rounding off at 57,800. One foot below is Fergie, taking the No. 28 seat. This week, Fergie has pushed 57,200 units, as the total for Dutchess stands tall at 712,300. Last but not least is John Legend, coming in at No. 34. The legend continues after 6 weeks on the move, as Once Again holds it down at official gold status. The total numbers for John's latest effort read off at 577,500, as the week-end total represents at 44,700.

A variety of Hip-Hop legends and athletes will gather in New York this weekend to celebrate the 25th year anniversary of Nike's Air Force 1 sneaker.

Nike will host an invite-only celebration this Sunday (Dec. 10) in New York.

During the celebration, rappers Kanye West, Nas, Rakim and KRS-One will unveil and perform a new, Rick Rubin-produced original song, dedicated to the sneaker.

Rubin is well known for his wide range of hit productions, which include another sneaker anthem, Run-DMC's 1986 smash single, "My Adidas."

Guests expected to attend include Dave Chappelle, Charles Barkley, Patrick Ewing, Rihanna, Queen Latifah, Spike Lee, Moses Malone, Usher, Snoop Dogg, LL Cool J and others.

The Air Force 1 sneaker has become a staple of fashion in the Hip-Hop community and has been the topic of several songs, including Nelly's No. 1 hit, "Air Force One's."

The sneaker was created in 1982 and has remained one of Nike's top selling shoes for over two decades.

Dame Dash Taps Into Online Market

After seeing the success of social networking sites like MySpace, hip-hop hustler Damon Dash is backing his own site which will specifically cater to the urban market.

The site, blocksavvy.com, is a partnership between Dash and web designer Kwame DeCuir. It is said to combine the personal profiling options of similar sites like MySpace and Friendster but with an urban twist.

Consisting of different neighborhoods or "blocks," the site is designed to appeal to different demographic groups from fashion-conscious teens to sophisticated urbanites. Those who sign up on the site have the option to build a personal profile, decide where they want to live and pick a room on their respective block. Users are invited to join by a group of charter members who have populated the site since it started testing in October.

"We have the luxury of not having to commit the whole site," DeCuir explained. "Our architecture is open-ended, so we can build a block to suit any group or brand. Social networking is at its height right now. There are a lot of sites out there, but they all have a similar problem. There is a lot of traction and a lot of users, but it is a challenge to monetize those users."

The site, while it features a social component, is also aimed at brands, advertisers and sponsorships as well. Dash plans to have a virtual store for his Pro Keds brand on the site as well as additional exposure for his other business ventures.

"Blocksavvy is the best and most efficient way for brands and consumers alike to have a mutually beneficial experience online," said Dash.

Other brands and businesses also will be able to showcase and sell products to residents from photorealistic storefronts in a virtual shopping mall using "savvy dollars," the site's virtual currency that is redeemable for actual cash.

The site is also integrated with other social networks and third-party content providers like Flickr and YouTube in order to give users access to both widely popular and exclusive content.

The same day that Hova releases the video to his second single for 'Kingdome Come' (the same song in which he talks about ending his relationship with B,) rumors surface that Jay-Z & Beyonce will tie the knot. Supposedly B is throwing a surprise four day birthday bash for her man, ending in an exchange of vows. The Ceremony is said to take place in Anguilla [Cap Juluca] where the couple previously toured and approved the location for the place where they will wed. Only time will tell if this rumor is true.
